MAP sector is considered one of the potential sectors in which Egypt has a competitive position in terms of volume and variety of production. Moreover, Egypt exports of medicinal and aromatic surpasses US$ 100 Million, representing about 10% of the total processed food export in Egypt. In addition, herbs, dried and semi-manufactured spices, as well as essential oils are treated as intermediate goods in many pharmaceutical and food industries.
Based on the current situation of the sector, the prevailing technical and professional potentials, and the opportunities available globally, the project applies an innovative and integrated approach that aims at upgrading the sector taking into consideration various aspects and dimensions. It should be noted that the ministry in line with related partners are aiming at expanding in such similar projects through transferring this experience to include other agribusiness sectors in Egypt.
