Linked to the main objective of the project aiming at upgrading the Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (MAP) sector in order to increase the competitiveness of Egyptian products in international markets, the goal of the Business Development Programme is to strengthen linkages of target enterprises to international markets and increase business opportunities.


Target Groups

  • Producers, processors and exporters of MAP products
  • New entrepreneurs in the MAP sector


Implementation Mechanisms

The programme is implemented through a group of integrated activities such as:

  • Identifying national and international market opportunities for target groups
  • Implement promotional campaigns, matchmaking activities and business ventures to introduce the MAP sector as an attractive investment/trade option in cooperation with UNIDO Network and other relevant institutions
  • Provide support for the preparation of promotional events, participation in trade fairs, follow-up on business contacts
  • Promoting the national quality scheme at national and international levels
  • Supporting marketing and business development activities of the established export consortia
  • Coordinate efforts with other international initiatives supporting trade capacity building, investment promotion and market access


Expected Participation of Target Groups and Project Partners

  • Provide required information needed for determining existing challenges and constrains in market access
  • Contributing to the cost of participation in international exhibitions, various market researches and promotional activities
  • Supporting the exchange of knowledge and experience with relevant stakeholders
